Sumit Prakash
Sumit Prakash, Founder of ALPHA Sports Academy, a SPORTSPRENEUR, and a Director of Prarambhika, reminisces about his upbringing in Patna, a city filled with cherished memories but also notable challenges. Reflecting on his own journey, Prakash recalls the limited emphasis on sports in schools during the 1980s, prompting many passionate athletes like himself to seek alternative avenues for athletic development while balancing academics.
Prakash’s dedication to sports led him to attend Scindia School, where he flourished as the Cricket Captain while excelling academically. However, he acknowledges the privilege that allowed him access to such opportunities, recognizing the disparity faced by many aspiring athletes from smaller towns in Bihar.
After a decade in Australia, Prakash returned to India to continue his family’s legacy by managing Prarambhika, now expanded to two branches catering to both urban and rural areas. Witnessing the untapped potential of rural students with a fervor for sports and education, Prakash recognized the need for accessible sporting facilities and quality education in Bihar.
In response, Prakash spearheaded the establishment of the state-of-the-art Multi-Sports Academy, equipped with hostel facilities, to empower aspiring athletes from across Bihar. With a vision to foster talent and promote sports alongside education, Prakash aims to ignite change and let India play.
